Park Street Fire
After yesterday’s fire at Park Street Works, we do hope that you and your loved ones all remain safe and well and have been able to return to your homes if you live in the affected area.
Town centre businesses have been fortunate in that the direction of the wind has taken it away from the centre, however, there is still a smoke plume this afternoon and if the wind was to change direction the advice from the fire service is that windows and doors should still remain closed if the smoke was blowing in the direction of your business premises.
Severn Trent have advised this morning that we may notice a reduction in water pressure and the water may look slightly different. This is due to the fire service using the water hydrants and it should return to normal within 24 hours.
The incident yesterday is a stark reminder to make sure we have our fire risk assessments in place. They should be reviewed regularly along with the testing of smoke alarms and sprinkler systems. The fire service have suggested testing of sprinkler systems, ideally once a month as it’s something that can be missed.
There are resources available to support businesses here on the Hereford and Worcester Fire Service website. It has everything from risk assessment templates to business advice and we would recommend a visit to the page.
